Sing me Spanish telco

Three months into my "new" apartment and I'm still awaiting the installation of DSL. Doesn't Jazztel want my money? I've been trying to give it to them since December, eager fistfuls of fresh Euros ripe for the picking. Sadly, humor rarely translates across the language barrier, so all my "Take my money, please!" jokes have fallen flat when speaking to customer service reps.

The good news is that I can occasionally connect from the ample terrace out back; the bad news is that spring is slow coming, and my fingers are very cold. Plus I'm getting paranoid about just whose un-password-protected wi-fi I'm filching. I just spied a guy in the building opposite, watching me through his window as he talked on a wireless phone. For a second I thought he might be calling in an airstrike (there were police choppers hovering overhead just this weekend, I swear).

I gotta stop watching 24.

(Predictably, I lost my connection somewhere midway through writing this useless post. Last night, I spent about an hour and a half resetting my Airport, trying to mail in my "Critical Beats" column for the month. The cat sitting on my lap helped keep me from freezing, but it damn near chewed through my headphone cable in the process. Kids, nothing in life is free.)

Bad news, Jazztel is a "pain in the ass telecom company".
I've been reading a couple of your interviews on the net and I've seen that you lives in Barcelona now. I'm in Zaragoza, 3 hours by car, and I would like to invite you to seee the line up of the Electronic Festival of the city at www.d4dr.ws. I think it's quite interesting. We are running a monthly night called IHHSSS..! in a club called RESET. From September had played the following artists: PLEASUREHORSE,OVE-NAXX, DODDODO, DJ SCOTCH EGG, DJ/RUPTURE, MILANESE, ROB HALL, MR76ix, DR DEREK F, VEX’D, AZ-ROTATOR, BONG-RA, SHITMAT this GULPEPSH, DISTEST,MARUOSA and repeat OVE-NAXX, DODDODO and SCOTCH EGG. In March will play BUDDY PEACE and ZILLA....
Best Cheers!

weird, a friend just moved to seville and is having the same problem as you (no dsl), leading to the same solution (janking another network from rooftops), leading to the same problem (cold fingers).

olvidate de Jazztel ... will take ages. No tienes mas remedio que empezar con f***ng Telefonica. You'll have adls within 2-3 days ...
Then you may change to a cheap one.

Sounds like you need to make a Pringles can wifi antenna and point it at your neighbors windows until you find the one with the best connection. See this page to build one yourself: www.turnpoint.net/wireless/has.html

Remember, with many problems in life, piracy is often the answer.
